According
to vedic scriptures, there are certain materials, designs, motifs,
signs, etc that are used to create a sacred mandap and to perform
a Hindu wedding ceremony. We, at Karma Design Studio, have researched
these scriptures, consulted Vedic professors, and Hindu pandit’s
to gather information about these important elements. In this
modern day and age, we have forgotten the importance of these
elements. However, we at Karma Design Studio are doing our part
to enlighten the public. For example, why are there four columns
used in a mandap? They represent the four “Veds” (ancient
Indian sacred scriptures). The perfect vaastu representation of
a mandap is the placement of the four columns to create a perfect
square. This square not only encompasses the five elements on
earth, but also represents all four directions (North, South,
East, West). This is just one example of many things that should
be taken into consideration when creating a mandap. A mandap is
a specially created place where two souls become one and take
vows in the presence of”FIRE” the most sacred elements
on earth. We also take the different cultures in India into consideration
when creating a mandap and bringing important elements of each
region into the mandap also. Please call our event coordinator
to set up an appointment to discuss the importance of your mandap.
